Since opening in 1976, Cuckoo's Nest has been much more than a restaurant—it has been a place where friendships were forged, celebrations were shared, and generations of families created lasting memories. What began as James Fitzpatrick's bold dream of bringing the flavors of Mexico to the Connecticut shoreline blossomed into a beloved community gathering place, filled with colorful artwork, lively conversations, and unforgettable meals. Over the years, the menu evolved under the creative direction of former Chef Peter McNeil, introducing bold Cajun and Creole flavors that became guest favorites. The iconic Wall of Fame continued to grow, and generations of loyal customers added their own memories to the ever-growing story of The Nest. In 2013, longtime employees Heather Emanuelson and Edmilson Sousa proudly carried that legacy forward, preserving the warmth, hospitality, and traditions that have made Cuckoo's Nest a cherished landmark for five decades. As the restaurant celebrates its 50th anniversary, we continue to welcome every guest like family, honoring the past while creating new memories for generations still to come.
